Background: Susan is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker on Bainbridge Island, near Seattle, Washington, where she has a private psychotherapy practice and coordinates a low-cost therapy program for a local social service agency. She received her MSW from the University of Washington in 1994. She is also licensed as an attorney in Washington and Oregon (inactive), and is a Board Certified Diplomate of the National Board of Examiners in Clinical Social Work. She has completed Basic and Advanced Trainings in Internal Family SystemsSM therapy, and has served as a training assistant in Basic training. She is interested in extending the concepts of ethics to include empowerment and creativity, focusing particularly on work with psychotherapists and with systems, such as churches and community organizations. She is working to incorporate Right Use of Power into the IFSSM community, as the two approaches seem complementary to and enhancing of each other.
